Yeah I'm Having Trouble...

So continuing on my current idea to do an Artscale Army counting the upscaled marines as terminators, I have actually made a surprising find about  using an actual Deathwing Army:
(mad props if you understand this)
The problem now is i have to decide on both a color scheme AND an primary codex. I've narrowed both down to two: (note all these lists are 1750)
Alpha Legion:
Dark Angels Army List:
Belial 130pts

Elites
Scout Squad w/4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher 120pts
Scout Squad w/4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher 120pts

Troops
Deathwing Squad w/Cyclone Missile Launcher, 4x Thunderhammer/Storm Shield,
1x Chainfist 240pts
Deathwing Squad w/Cyclone Missile Launcher, 4x Thunderhammer/Storm Shield,
1x Chainfist, Apothecary 270pts
Deathwing Squad w/CML, 1x TH/SS 235pts
Deathwing Squad w/CML, 1x TH/SS 235pts
Deathwing Squad w/CML, 1x TH/SS 235pts

Fast Attack
Land Speeder w/Typhoon Launcher 75pts
Land Speeder w/Typhoon Launcher 75pts

Space Wolves Army List:
Logan Grimnar 275pts

Rune Priest w/Terminator Armor, Chooser of the Slain 130pts

Elites
Wolf Scouts x5 w/Meltagun, Meltabombs 110pts
Wolf Scouts x5 w/Meltagun, Meltabombs 110pts

Troops
Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, CML, Powerfist, Wolf Claw x2 215pts
Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, CML, Powerfist, Wolf Claw x2 215pts
Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, CML, Powerfist, Wolf Claw x2 215pts
Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, CML, Powerfist, Wolf Claw x2 215pts
Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, CML, Powerfist, Wolf Claw x2 215pts
(two models in each squad have a single WC)

Dark Angels Army is more shooty, durable, and I think more competitive, whereas the Space Wolves give a bit more fluffy with fewer Powerfists and Storm Shields.

Word Bearers:
Dark Angels:
HQ
Belial w/Lightning Claws 130pts

Elites
Deathwing Terminators w/H. Flamer, 4x Thunderhammer/Storm Shield, Apothacary 250pts

Dreadnought w/TL Autocannon 125pts x2

Techmarine w/ 4x Servitor w/Multi-Melta 175pts

Troops
Deathwing Terminators w/ CML, Thunderhammer/Storm Shield 235pts x2
Deathwing Terminators w/ CML, 3x Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield 235pts x2
Space Wolves:
Logan 275pts

Rune Priest w/Terminator Armor, Chooser Living Lightning, Tempest 135pts
Rune Priest w/Terminator Armor, Chooser, Meltabombs, LL, Hurricane 140pts

Lone wolf w/Terminator Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, 2x Wolves 105pts x2

Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, 3x Combi-Plasma, 1x Powerfist,
1x Wolf Claw, CML 225pts x2

Wolf Guard x5 w/Terminator Armor, 2x Powerfist, 3x Wolf Claw CML 230pts x2

Fast Attack
Wolf Pack x10 80pts

Kinda even between these two not sure well have to playtest them.

Conceivable any of these four lists could be applied to either legion. Some fit a bit better than others but i'm not sure. I really like the Alpha Legion colors but the Word Bearers fluff seem to sync up better. I'll get the first conversion done up tonight hopefully and we'll go from there.

Guess what... imma pretty flutterbye

Title says it all, I've opted to scrap the Tau project in favor of another one which demands the same materials. You see I've run into this one particular problem before: confusion. Specifically the confusion which arises out of Total Conversion Armies (TCA), people not knowing whats what My Mechanicus army suffered the same flaw, prompting me to abort work on it.
Now i worry a similar theme may arise out of a Tau army. I'd quite like to do a steampunk army at some point but i also enjoy playing with people who i do not know, so I feel limited in what I can do with certain armies. With Chaos it seems there's an absence of this problem. I don't know maybe people just expect it to look weird.
This got me thinking... ive got about thirty terminators of various kinds literally collecting dust I normally dislike using them as i find my lists quite lopsided with them. However Lamenter over at http://masteroftheforge.com/ has a lovely tutorial on making "artscale" marines, basically the scale marine should be, so what i think i'll do is a artscale Wordbearer Army using a Loganwing List. Yes, Yes I know Space Wolves, however there isn't really another option for large sized space marines with the individuality that I can get with the SW codex, However for experiment's sake i'll make a Deathwing Army too just to see what I can get. Teleporting would be nice (I've had a discussion, with a GW employee no less, about how he felt that Wof Termies can still teleport because the codex doesn't specifically prohibit it, which in my opinion is a giant load of bovine excrement)

Planetstrike Tourney Day

My friends and I are planning on running a WH40k day in the next few week and this time we've decided to do a Planetstrike series this time around. My only problem with PS is that many of the Bastion rules are very Imperial-centric so what i think i shall do is develop a number of rules for Xenos bastions themed for each race.
Without further doods:

Daemonic Keep AV (all sides) 14
Automated Weapons: 4 Daemonic Gazes (one on each side), One Bolt of Tzeentch (360* view from top)

Tau Defense Structure AV 12
Automated Weapons: 4 Burst Cannons, 1 TL Missile Pod or 1 TL Railgun
Additional Rule: Disruption Pod

Eldar Pylon AV 12
Automated Weapons: 4 Avenger Catapults, 1 TL Brightlance or Eldar Missile Launcher
Additional Rules Spirit Stones, Ranged attacks more than 12 inches away whose Strength is over 8 is reduced to 8

Ork Gun Hut AV 14 (open-topped)
Automated Weapons: 4 Big Shootas (these may all fire in the same direction), 1 TL Loota Gun

Dark Eldar Torture Chamber AV 12
Automated Weapons: 4 Splinter Cannons, 1 TL Darklance
Special Rules: Shadow Field, Night Shield

Necron Temple Defense AV 14
Automated Weapon: 1 Gauss Flux Arc, 1 Heavy Gauss Cannon
Special Rules: Living Metal

Tyranid Hive Defender Immobile Monstrous Creature BS 2 WS2 S 5 T7 W4 A4 Sv 3+
Equipped w/Impaler Cannon, Fleshborer Hive
Special Rules: May shoot each weapon at different targets, Units held in Reserve may enter play 2 inches away from Hive Defender as thought from a table edge.

Chaos Space Marines:
May use either Imperial Bastion or Daemonic Keep or a combination of both.

I think that everybody. Just for clarification the anti-infantry weapons are mounted on each side of the particular Bastion and the anti-tank weapon has a 360* view as well as the interception rule. I didn't bother with SoBs, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, or Space Marines as they can use the normal Bastion rules.

Comments/Criticism always welcome!

This isn't your grandma's Daemon army, (who knows maybe it is) i'm a big fan of high mobile armies and Daemons are one of the more mobile out there. Lots of shooting (for daemons) and a couple facebeater squads.

1k Steampunk Tau (these guys i'm really looking forward to)
HQ
Shas'el Commander  w/ Missile Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Multi-tracker, HW Target Lock 92pts

Elites
Battlesuit squad x3 w/2x ML, Flamer, Team Leader w/HW Target Lock 151pts

Battlesuit Squad x3 w/Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Multi-tracker 186pts

Troops
Fire Warrior x6
Mounted in Devilfish w/ Disruption Pod 145pts

Kroot x10 + Kroot Hounds x5 100pts

Fast Attack
Pathfinder Squad x5
Mounted in Devilfish w/Disruption Pod 145pts

Heavy Support
Broadsides w/Advanced Stabilization System, Team Leader w/HW Target Lock 170pts
(this army exists only in my head and the two test models I've created so far)
This is an experiment.Tau was my first army evar! and ive sold and come back to them several times now hopefully this will be the last.

So these list are my rough guide as to what i need to have made up. as i near completion i'll add other things to the armies themselves but as far as a reasonably competitive list goes this is what i got. Pics will follow once I bribe my brother for the use his very expensive camera.

So it begins....

well here we are folks this will be my blog for posting my many many warhammer conversions among other things as well as random musings from time to time. My hope is to inspire some of you to do your own conversions as well as to provide some motivation which i desperately need.
